CARLISLE -- A benefit concert Feb. 19 by local musician Randy Simpson raised $1,000 to support the fledgling Cumberland Valley Christian radio station WPFG-FM 91.3.
The station's goal is to get on the air this year.
Simpson donated to the station all proceeds from ticket sales to his concert, which took place in Otterbein United Methodist Church, Carlisle.
Cumberland Valley Christian Radio plans to offer primarily music-based Christian radio to the Cumberland Valley and Perry County. Teaching and outreach programming is still to be determined.
The station expects to break ground today for its transmission antenna on Waggoners Gap.
Arrangements are being made for a permanent location for the station.
WPFG accepts donations and welcomes volunteers to help get the locally owned and operated station on air. Contact the station through its website http://www.wpfgfm.org.
