5th Sunday Sing a HUGE Success - May 31, 2011
WPFG's first 5th Sunday Sing event was a huge success! Churches around the Carlisle area were represented in the congregation as those in attendance celebrated unity in the Lord and reflected on the Memorial Day holiday together in song at host church Huntsdale Church of the Brethren.
WPFG's Buz Taylor led the evening of music and kicked the night off with a patriotic trumpet solo arrangement of "America The Beautiful".
The special musical selections were provided by The WPFG Bridge Choir, led by Karin Apgar; Huntsdale Church of the Brethren musicians led by Krista Thumma; and Piano soloist Sara Leone and vocal Soloist Luke Leone from Grace Baptist Church.
Upbeat and familiar patriotic hymns with Buz Taylor and fellow trumpeter, Nic Ellis were sung through out the evening as different styles, groups and instruments all reflected the diveristy and unity in the body of Christ in Cumberland Valley.
The introduction of WPFG's Founders' Club Campaign was generously received and over $600.00 was raised for the station's financial needs to get on the air by the projected date of Fall 2011.
Friendly fellowship was shared with a refreshing cookie buffet provided by the ladies of the church as friends new and old celebrated a wonderful evening together.
